ACHS and Aromatherapy Expert Dorene Petersen Contribute to Ground Breaking Aromatherapy Documentary

American College of Healthcare Sciences (ACHS) and College President Dorene Petersen have partnered with filmmakers and aromatherapists Kristina Bauer and Angela Jensen Ehmke on their upcoming aromatherapy documentary, Uncommon Scents.

Uncommon Scents will explore the past, present, and future of the aromatherapy and essential oil industry, and will include personal interviews with renowned industry experts. Link: www.uncommonscentsmovie.com

Uncommon Scents elevates conversations about essential oils above marketing speak, brand rhetoric, and hyperbolic claims to shine a light on the credible, evidence-based truths and profoundly powerful personal stories in which the industry’s history is grounded,” says Kristina Bauer, executive producer, screenwriter, and former ACHS student.

“I want to invite our audience to be awed, challenged, surprised, and inspired,” says Bauer. “We also hope the film brings some powerful learning moments. The best Aromatherapy education extends beyond ‘just’ safe and effective use: it also includes thoughtful engagement and conscientious relationship.”

ACHS is an Associate Producer of the film, and College President and Founder Dorene Petersen, an industry expert with over 35 years of clinical teaching and lecturing experience in aromatherapy, will be among the cast of aromatherapists interviewed for the film.

“This documentary is the first of its kind,” says Petersen. “Kristina and Angie are bringing together the industry’s top leaders to give the public scientific insight into this dynamic and often misunderstood modality. The film has been completely supported through crowd-funding. To me, that demonstrates the general public and the health and wellness community is hungry for a documentary on the aromatherapy industry but more than that, for credible information and leadership, and I am excited to be a part of the endeavor.”

“We’re fortunate to have studied with educators and through programs like those at ACHS,” says Bauer. “That has helped ground our understanding of Aromatherapy in not just best practices, but also values and ethics. We’re thrilled that so many who share our passion for Aromatherapy have joined Uncommon Scents as participants providing their perspectives in the film or producers facilitating the film’s funding and production; we are delighted that Dorene Petersen will be speaking with us and so grateful to have ACHS as an Associate Producer.”

Filming for Uncommon Scents will begin summer 2016 with a release date in late 2017 or early 2018.
